What is VR, AR and MR (Meaning)
What is VR? What is AR? What is MR? Today I am going to bring you the meaning of these acronyms -VR or Virtual Reality, AR or Extended Reality, MR or Mixed Reality- and I am going to tell you what each one of them consists of.
Because this year we have made the leap into the wonderful world of Extended Reality in Espacio BIM, and we are delighted to be able to share this news with you.
Do you want to know more about this technology? Keep reading. If once you have viewed all the content, you want to know more, I leave you here a very interesting link .-)
VR, AR, MR
Let’s go little by little.
What is VR or Virtual Reality
Virtual reality -VR or also known as immersive multimedia- allows you to immerse yourself and interact in a virtual environment through a simulation. This technology offers you an immersive experience that seeks the abstraction of reality through visual and auditory stimuli -among others-.
VR allows you, for example, to go into all the nooks and crannies of a digitally created home. One of the options to create them is from Point Clouds. Since a picture is worth a thousand words, here goes a very descriptive video!

What is AR or Augmented Reality
Augmented Reality allows you to visualizethrough a screen, virtual elements generated in a real physical environment. How many times have we wanted to explicitly see a house, a specific environment or a 3D modeled element live? If this is your case, AR is the technology you need.
In the building sector, you can see through the camera of your mobile phone, a complete building before the works begin. Another example to take into account would be interior design – visualize different sets of furniture and choose the one that best suits your tastes and needs. As I know you are wanting to see it with your own eyes, here is the explanatory video:

What is MR or Mixed Reality
mixed reality is the newest of all, and seeks to combine the user’s real environment with added content designed virtually. The option to allow the real physical world to coexist with digital elements and interact with the result is what makes it so complex and interesting. Since, unlike VR and AR, virtual elements interact directly with the real environment. What do you think of this latest video?

And now that you know a little more about virtual reality, would you like to take your first steps in this exciting world? Well, I propose to do what for many is the best BIM master’s degree, our online BIM master’s degree in management, the International BIM Manager (+VR) Master’s degree.
BIM? BIM or Building Information Modeling is a collaborative work methodology for the conception and management of building and civil works projects. BIM centralizes all the information of a project (geometric or 3D, times or 4D, costs or 5D, environmental or 6D, and maintenance or 7D) in a digital model developed by all its agents.
Soon, in addition, you will be able to complete it with our Unreal Engine Course from Zero to Advanced for Architecture.
