CaptivatAR Web-based Augmented Reality Greetings in Collaboration with Tech Alpharetta

First of all, let’s introduce Tech Alpharetta…

Tech Alpharetta (previously the Alpharetta Technology Commission), the first organization of its kind in Georgia, was established in 2012 by the City of Alpharetta and is an independent, nonprofit organization today. At the time of the organization’s founding, Alpharetta’s predominant industry was technology, and technology continues to be its primary industry today. There are nearly 700 technology companies that currently call them home, making Alpharetta the Technology City of the South.

ATC History

In 2012, the City formed the Alpharetta Technology Commission (“ATC”). It has consisted of a strategic advisory board of local tech C-levels charged with identifying and pursuing key investment opportunities and policy decisions for the City’s technology companies and its robust technology sector. In late 2014, ATC became an independent nonprofit.

In August 2015, opened its startup incubator in a city-owned building in downtown Alpharetta. The ATC changed its name to “Tech Alpharetta” in September 2017, to reflect the growth and evolution of the organization.

In 2018, the Greater Alpharetta Tech Network (GATN), a nonprofit organization hosting tech thought leadership in Alpharetta, merged with them.

What is Tech Alpharetta today?

Today, Tech Alpharetta’s mission remains the same –to help grow technology and innovation in Alpharetta– but they now include three service pillars:

  1. Startup Incubator (Tech Alpharetta Innovation Center);
  2. Tech Events;
  3. Strategic Board.

In collab with Tech Alpharetta, we created a holiday webAR Greeting so that they could greet all their colleagues. The technology is based on our first examples of Greetings on our website, without the need for a download – a distinct advantage that WebAR has over its app-based counterparts – users can engage with the technology through triggers such as a QR code, link, or real-world object.

WebAR’s instant accessibility eliminates a massive barrier to entry, as opting for an app-based AR requires downloading a standalone mobile application from the App Store or Play Store. In fact, studies have shown that there is a 50% drop-off in engagement for any digital experience that takes over 30 seconds to load. Downloading an app to load an AR experience often takes longer than this.

Web-based AR is a potent tool because it allows USERS to immediately ‘experience the experience’ without annoying load times and multiple steps. It also provides a uniform experience across devices and browsers.

A Seamless Experience

This innovative solution brings life to your greetings, instead of sticking to old ways. For starters, we all know how important impressions are, this way you can make a real impact when connecting with your audience. It’s also a cost-effective way for brands to create meaningful engagement, regardless of audience location and language. AR can be used with loads of multimedia content that enhances events like holiday celebrations, anniversaries, launches, conferences, presentations, and more.

Here are just a few ideas on use cases for this AR-powered innovative greetings

–        Seasonal company celebrations such as Christmas, New Year, and Easter

–        Specific celebrations such as anniversaries and launches

–        Events, such as fairs and conferences

–        Business presentations

If we are talking about the pros of using AR in your businesses’ greetings, there are lots of them! Just to name some, we’ll say it creates impactful experiences by augmenting marketing touchpoints with multimedia, 3D content, and gamification possibilities. Moreover, it pushes the limits and scale of customer interaction with your brand beyond an event or given experience.  The best part is, that not only is it easy to use without technical knowledge or app installation, but it is also easy to integrate into or extend existing marketing strategies.
